AI is progressing fast as usual. OpenAI has just released its spring update, introducing the new GPT-4o with groundbreaking capabilities. This update also includes a desktop app, a new interface, and more exciting features.

In my previous newsletter, I mentioned that I would cover a prompting tutorial in this video. However, due to numerous requests for a guide on creating draft replies in email, I decided to create a video on that topic instead.

New AI Model: GPT-4o

The new AI model, GPT-4o, is part of the OpenAI spring update. This model, which is free for everyone, offers more natural interactions for us users.

The “o” stands for “Omni,” and according to OpenAI, the GPT-4o model is "a step towards much more natural human-computer interaction." We can see how this is true because the model can handle inputs of text, audio, image, and video. The outputs are going to be in text, audio, and image formats. This is something really exciting to see come to the AI space, and it greatly improves the capabilities of both simple and more complex use cases of these AI models.

OpenAI Spring Update - Other updates

OpenAI just launched their desktop app for macOS, which is going to streamline a lot of day-to-day work. With the desktop app, we can, with a keyboard shortcut (Option + Space), instantly ask ChatGPT a question. Screenshots can also be taken and discussed directly in the app. The Windows version, according to OpenAI, will be available later this year.

Now you are also going to be able to have voice conversations with ChatGPT directly from your computer. Simply tap the headphone icon in the bottom right corner of the desktop app to start a voice conversation.

Also in the update, we've got a new friendlier interface for ChatGPT, including a new home screen, layout, etc.

Last words

If you are handling customer service manually, you now have a chance to streamline your customer support by training a Custom GPT with your data and using the automation system to enable the creation of draft replies and automate the creation of answers in emails.

I'm currently looking forward to seeing the future updates from OpenAI. I was a little disappointed because I thought we would see ChatGPT 4.5 come out with this update, but don’t get me wrong the GPT-4o model is still a great improvement.
