2 Minute Weekly AI - Week 50

Hey there,

This is a ~2-minute read featuring news, insights and learnings regarding AI for Week 50, 2024.

12 Days of OpenAI Updates

ChatGPT has announced several new updates during their 12 Days of OpenAI event, which runs until Christmas.

The two most exciting updates are the Advanced Voice with Video feature for ChatGPT and the demo of ChatGPT in Apple Intelligence

Advanced Voice with video for ChatGPT

With the new Advanced Voice with Video feature, users can now share their video and voice in real-time while interacting with ChatGPT.

This allows users to share their camera feed and ask ChatGPT questions about anything being filmed.

It’s crazy to see how far things have come since the release of GPT-3!

You can watch the demo on OpenAI’s website to learn more:

ChatGPT in Apple Intelligence

  • iPhone 16

  • iPhone 16 Plus

Grok AI is Now Free!

Elon Musk’s AI model, Grok, developed by X.ai, is no longer behind a paywall and is now Free for all X users.

The social media platform X (formerly Twitter), previously integrated Grok onto the platform with a paywall.

That’s no longer the case!

If you’re interested, head to X.com and try out Grok yourself—it’s always fun to explore new AI models and technology.

OpenAI’s Transition to Profit — Meta Weighs In

OpenAI has announced plans to transition from a non-profit to a profit-driven company.

Elon Musk is against this move and has filed a request with a US court to block the transition.

Meta Platforms, the company behind Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, the Llama 3 large language model, and many other ventures, has also expressed opposition to OpenAI’s decision.

Critics raise concerns over OpenAI’s significant influence, the potential risks of AI tech, and the tax advantages it gets as a non-profit.

It will be interesting to see how this situation develops for OpenAI.

That was everything for Week 50, hoping that you found it valuable!
