2 Minute Weekly AI - Week 51

Hey there,

This is a ~2-minute read featuring News, Insights and learnings in AI for Week 51, 2024.

Week 51 - News, Insights & Learnings

VEO 2 - Google’s New Video Model

Google just announced Veo 2 — Their own text-to-video generation model, an alternative to OpenAI’s Sora model.

With Veo 2, you can create 4K video simply by writing a prompt describing the type of video you want to generate.

The crazy fast development in the AI field is exciting but also a bit concerning, considering how many creative jobs this technology might eventually replace.

Try Gemini Business for $0

When I opened Google Docs this week, Google notified me that I could try out Gemini for my Google Workspace for $0.

After a couple of days using it, I can confidently say it’s a gamechanger for day-to-day tasks.

I’ve used it to create reports, summarize emails, and much more.

If you’re using Google Workspace, I’d highly recommend giving it a try!

AI Meeting Agent for $0

Last week I posted about how to use an AI Meeting Agent to:

→ Record meetings

→ Store meeting recordings

→ Transcribe meetings

→ Summarize meetings using AI

Using an AI meeting Agent is essential for anyone taking calls only once in a while, or multiple times per day.

The best part is that you can do this for $0, by using Fathom AI.

If you’d like to try it out then feel free to sign up on their website: https://fathom.video

Claude Haiku 3.5 — Available on Claude.ai

Claude 3.5 Haiku, the next-generation fast model from Anthropic, is now available on Claude.ai on the web and in mobile apps.

This is a great option for anyone looking to try a different AI model compared to the frequently used GPT models from OpenAI.

If you have tasks like coding, quick information processing, or short-form content creation, Claude 3.5 Haiku is the perfect choice!

(Note: Claude 3.5 Haiku is a text-only model.)

Apple Intelligence — Released too early?

The BBC has filed a complaint with Apple after its AI tool, Apple Intelligence, generated an incorrect headline about murder suspect Luigi Mangione.

The tool, designed to summarize and organize notifications, falsely suggested that BBC News reported Mangione, who is accused of murdering healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York, had shot himself. This claim was inaccurate.

In response, Reporters Without Borders has called on Apple to discontinue the tool, but Apple has not yet commented.

What is this feature from Apple?

As part of its rollout of Apple Intelligence, Apple introduced a feature that lets users group notifications.

Apple explained that this feature helps customers reduce interruptions caused by ongoing notifications.

Personally, I simply keep my phone on Do Not Disturb at all times, allowing only phone calls to come through. For me, this is the best way to avoid notifications disrupting day-to-day life.

That was everything for Week 51, hoping that you found it valuable!
