2 Minute Weekly AI - Week 3

Hey there,

This is a ~2-minute read featuring News & Insights in AI for Week 3, 2025.

Updates & News - Week 3

The end of Apple Intelligence?

As written in two of my past newsletters, Apple has gotten critisism regarding the Apple Intelligence feature for news summarization due to serious flaws.

The BBC was among the organizations that filed complaints after discovering significant errors. Apple’s AI incorrectly stated that Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, had shot himself.

The feature was launched in the UK in December, but concerns quickly arose. The BBC and others warned that it could contribute to the spread of misinformation and further erode trust in the media.

In response, Apple has now decided to completely disable the feature for news and entertainment apps.

Apple is working on improvements and has promised to provide greater transparency about AI’s role in future updates, according to the BBC.

OpenAI is getting into local news

OpenAI is strengthening its presence in journalism through a new partnership with Axios, providing AI-driven tools to local newsrooms in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Boulder, and Huntsville.

The goal is to help journalists work more efficiently, analyze data faster, and enhance their reporting.

With nearly 20 media organizations, including News Corp, The Atlantic, and Vox Media, now collaborating with OpenAI, AI’s role in news continues to expand.

For readers, this could lead to more in-depth local coverage, faster updates on breaking news, and AI-assisted insights that simplify complex topics.

Google’s “Titans” - Human like AI model

Google’s DeepMind has introduced “Titans”, a breakthrough AI model designed to mimic human-like memory. Unlike traditional AI, which often forgets past interactions, Titans can retain and recall information, allowing it to learn, adapt, and provide more context-aware responses over time.

This advancement could transform how we interact with AI, making virtual assistants more intuitive, personalized recommendations more accurate, and AI-driven decision-making more reliable.

That was everything for week 3, hoping that you found it valuable!
